COMPANY HISTORY
INTERSTATE COMMUNICATIONS & ELECTRONICS, INC.
began in 1975 as South Side Communications located in Raccoon Township, Beaver
County, PA. After five years of growth
as a part time proprietorship the company incorporated in 1980 as Interstate
Mobile Radio, Inc. and moved to a larger facility in Beaver, PA.
In 1993, after 17 years of growth and development the
company name was changed to better reflect the scope of the products offered.
In 1998, after 23 years of continuous growth and in
need of a larger facility we moved to our current location nearly doubling our
facility space.
INTERSTATE is primarily a Two-Way Radio Sales &
Service organization providing sales, installation and repair of radio
communications equipment. We provide
equipment manufactured by Motorola Communications and by Kenwood
Communications, the two largest manufactures in the two-way business.
For the past ten years we have provided various types
of equipment to our customers for the transmission of data over radio. Many of
these systems have been in industrial locations where cost effective low
maintenance radio based systems have proved their reliability. We have been
successful in moving serial computer data, discrete on/off status, and analog
metering signals all over various types of radio paths. In the municipal market
we have provided radio based control systems for monitoring water levels and
controlling pumps. We have also worked along with other suppliers to provide
only the radio portion of the system.
An additional service we offer is the study of radio
signal propagation for proposed systems. Determining the coverage area and
equipment requirements for radio transmission of voice and/or data prior to the
design of the system guarantees a reliable working system with minimal
complications. We provide a computerized
propagation study of the proposed sites and then, if necessary, actual field
measurement tests to confirm the computer study.
